look back for a moment

Happy New Year ! I don’t know about you, but it feels like the last three months just came and left in like a blink. let me see if I can summarize the top events, photos included !

I meant to mention before one of the biggest life changes of the year – I’m sure you’ve seen her all over the family social media (yea, she has her own instagram account. I’m embarrassed with you.), Olive joined the family in august !! for the sake of being brief with so much else to update, I’ll just say she’s the sweetest thing ever. for our first family pet, we’re all in agreement that we never expected such a fun and kind animal.

September, in a just few words, was filled with lots of trips to the park or anywhere else in the sun to enjoy the last few weeks of ‘warmth’, including apple picking and unfortunately the yearly weather change sickness.

in October the family picked out our wedding attire for Brian and Jess’ wedding .

in Novemeber… I GAINED A SISTER. okay , I should probably say instead that my brother and his fiance got married, but I can’t help it. made myself choose ONE photo. you win some you lose some.

(Joshua also got married 2 weeks later but we only got to attend Brian’s :))

Thanksgiving was calm and quiet (much needed), and I looked for zero black friday deals. A few days later we got our Christmas tree.

we got to go to new york city twice in December. both were overwhelming and exahusting but very worth it. the first time we showed the Carvins and a couple girls visiting from FL (new friends !) around , and the second trip we reviewed a couple gluten free spots and went to the Brooklyn Tabernacle Christmas service. we found my new favorittte spot, a matcha place 🤤

new york travels ( and simple sights )

for Christmas time we traveled by car to Florida (with the pup, don’t recommend unless yours takes lessons from Olive first) and got to spend 6 days divided up between all the family !! it was a tiring week to say the least, but filled with joy.

olive meeting papa 🙂

since being back home in new jersey ( I think we’ve almost recovered ? 😉 ) we celebrated with our small family Christmas on New Years day and cheered ethan on at a couple of swim meets. it was a huge blessing to have a good amount of time off  for traveling and family time, even though I longed to be home for the sake of not having to live out of a car anymore : )

I can’t wait to write about what the start of my first week in January has looked like, but I needed to do a quick catch up first ! look out for the next blog post on what I’ve been doing in my free time. all in all, even though we moved so much from one thing to the next (can you believe that’s my narrowed down surface level version^ ??) I did remember to capture a lot of the little moments of joy that add up and give me energy to keep moving forward.

how were your last few months of 2018? did they feel like they slipped through your fingers or are you ready to start fresh? I’ve always been skeptical of celebrating the new year just because it was man made and probably pretty pointless, but this year in particular it has helped to give me some drive and anticipation for wholesome things I can put my energy toward…
